Who we are

Our Story

Since its founding in 2017, The Department of Regional Art Workers, D.R.A.W., has supported an unabashedly nontraditional, contemporary, experimental, and progressive style of art making. That is true for our youngest emerging artists or the established practitioners with a robust following.

We - D.R.A.W. - began as a group of art workers committed to foster deeply-engaged, accessible and inclusive community arts education, to serve as agents of change, and to help galvanize the cultural, social and financial dynamics of our community.

In 2019, D.R.A.W joined forces with the Kingston Midtown Arts District (MAD) to become MAD’s arts education program.

Our goal has been to create art experiences that develop people’s deeper understanding of the qualities in their own art and that of others, allowing them to engage with the local arts industry as artists, art workers, and audience.
