Feb 9: Two Part Plaster Block Mold: Kelly McGrath

Mold making is a part of everyday life from the mass produced cups and plates in the kitchen cabinet to the complex toys and gadgets we use for play. You will be introduced to basic mold terminology and to  a 2-part block mold construction. The mold from this class can be used to cast a variety of materials including plaster, clay, paper and wax.

Kelly McGrath is an artist and an arts educator. She served as the Director of Education at R+F Handmade Paints from 2014-2017. She has taught studio based classes through a variety of organizations including: Castle Hill Center for the Arts, Women’s Studio Workshop, R+F Handmade Paints and in private studio settings. She received her undergraduate degree from SUNY New Paltz in 2007 and is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Hunter College in Manhattan.
